In 1995, I visited Chios, a Greek island located in the northeastern Aegean Sea just a few miles from Turkey.  It's the fifth largest island in Greece, has Venetian mansions with orange groves attached and is the island where gum mastic comes from.

I stayed in the vilage of Volissos. Legend has it that it is the birthplace of Homer who lived on Chios in the 8th century BC.
