Traditionally, the subject matter of the Still Life (see my blog post - What is a Still Life?) has been intended to provide food for thought.  Often objects are intended to reflect in a symbolic way and arrangements may follow the traditions of 'vanita' or 'memento mori'.  At present, my focus is purely on familar objects in my home - typically ones which have had some intrinsic interest which holds my gaze - whether it is pears carved from wood - thus providing a spin on the ever popular image of a pear in painting - or a small soap stone figure of Ganesh from Goa.
